The Pot Maker (TPO)

SUMMARY

  • Sentila’s Dream: Sentila was a young girl who wanted to become a pot maker like her mother and grandmother. But her mother did not agree because pot making was very hard work and earned less money. She wanted Sentila to learn weaving instead.
  • Secret Interest in Pot Making: Still, Sentila was very interested in pot making. She secretly watched the village potters and learned how they worked with clay. Seeing her interest, the village elders asked her parents to allow her to learn. Finally, her mother agreed to teach her.
  • Struggles in Learning: Sentila worked hard, but she found it very difficult to shape pots. Even after many months, she could not do it properly and felt sad and discouraged.
  • Help from Onula: One day, a kind woman named Onula saw her practicing and helped her relax and learn the correct way. With her guidance, Sentila made her first good pot and became more confident.
  • The Birth of a New Pot Maker: Finally Sentila became skilled and made many beautiful pots like her mother did. Sadly, her mother passed away before she could see her success. But Sentila continued the tradition, and everyone understood that a new pot maker had been born.
