She never expects anything in return. Her only wish is to see the boy smile. Even when she becomes just a stump, she still gives him a place to rest. So the tree is truly a giving tree, and the title matches the story perfectly.

The tree invited the man to sit down and take rest on its stump. The man did so and started thinking about the tree. What would be his thoughts?
