Prepositions

Simple prepositions are short words that show the relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and another word in a sentence. They usually tell us about place, time, direction, or relation.

Examples:

in – The book is in the bag.
on – The pen is on the table.
under – The shoes are under the bed.
over – The bird flew over the house.
with – She is playing with her friends.
to – He is going to school.
from – This letter is from my uncle.
by – The story was written by a famous author.
