Prepositions

Simple prepositions are short words that show the relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and another word in a sentence. They usually tell us about place, time, direction, or relation.

Examples:

  • in – The book is in the bag.
  • on – The pen is on the table.
  • under – The shoes are under the bed.
  • over – The bird flew over the house.
  • with – She is playing with her friends.
  • to – He is going to school.
  • from – This letter is from my uncle.
  • by – The story was written by a famous author.
