About the Author: Temsula Ao (1945–2023) was a renowned poet, author, and academic from Nagaland, India, known for her work detailing Naga life and culture. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2007. "The Pot Maker" is part of her collection titled These Hills Called Home: Stories from a War Zone and centers on a young girl named Sentila who pursues the traditional, labor-intensive art of pottery despite her mother's reservations.
