When forming the plural of words ending in -f or -fe, there are two common rules:

Change “f” or “fe” to “ves” – Many words follow this pattern:

  • Leaf → Leaves
  • Wolf → Wolves
  • Knife → Knives
  • Life → Lives

Just add “s” – Some words keep the -f and simply take -s:

  • Roof → Roofs
